The Ondo-West Gold Project lies within the Ondo west in Ondo-City South West Nigeria. Onsien’ Large Scale Prospecting License covers a 2.2 km2 area. The Project is at an advanced exploration stage. The region is characterized by a series of highly prospective Bitumen, Chrome, granite-greenstone, and close to the border with Kogi, Osun and Edo state.
There is significant production from a number of gold mines in the region, as well as from numerous small artisanal workings. Earlier exploration conducted in the Ondo-west Onsien Project area focused entirely on the site.
Onsien Gold Mine Exploration
Today Nigeria is among the fastest-growing economies in Africa, and one of the most dynamic in West Africa. Nigeria introduced a progressive new mining code in 2014, and on-going infrastructure improvements are making the country one of the more investor-friendly countries in Africa. There is a strong desire to diversify the economy with gold and other mineral products. Exporting electricity is playing an increasing role in this diversification. Underexplored until the last decade it is finally delivering a plethora of exciting new discoveries.
The artisanal workings follow a zone of shearing over hundreds of metres in a north-northeast direction. These shear zones are between 3 and 6 m wide and hydrothermal alteration of silica-chlorite-sericite-epidote is typically associated with these sheared contacts and along the intrusive margins. The integration of all the exploration and drilling data has identified a deeper and wider zone of mineralisation associated with a strongly altered shear zone.
